    1. There's no particular reason that G# is the root. These are movable shapes. If you line up the R with any note, you will get the Major Scale in that key.
      My diagrams usually start on the 2nd or 3rd fret simply so you can easily play an entire octave of the scale without getting to high up on the neck.
      There's nothing special about G#.
      It is just one possible example of where these boxes can go.

      Delete
